Welcome!
Nehirim is committed to making its programs as inclusive and accessible as
possible. Thanks to the generosity of the Charles & Lynn Schusterman Family
Foundation, the Walter & Elise Haas Fund, and our network of individual
donors, Nehirim is pleased to be able to offer financial aid to most of our
retreats. Please do apply -- we know retreats are expensive, and the money
is there to enable your attendance!
We offer three types of financial aid for non-students:
- a $50 dollar scholarship
- a half-off scholarship
- a limited number of larger scholarships for those in greater financial need
If you are applying for the third type of aid, please let us know what you can
afford to contribute, and we will do our best to help.
If you are a student, you are eligible for a full work-study scholarship. You should
a) let us know that you are a student in your application, and b) request an amount.
If you are able to attend with less than a full scholarship, please know that this enables
our resources to help more people, which we greatly appreciate.
The work/study commitment for students is very light: two hours of work per retreat.
Typical work includes assisting at the registration table, clearing dishes at meals, setting up program spaces,
and so on. Work assignments will be light, but please do let us know if you have an accessibility or other
physical concern regarding your volunteer time.
All scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so please apply early.

General Notes
- Applications are considered on a limited and rolling basis and are first-come, first-served.
Apply early! We almost always run out of financial aid.
- Please also note that an application represents your commitment to come for
the entire weekend. We do not award scholarships, in any form, for partial
attendance. If you cannot attend the entire weekend, we ask that you not
apply for aid this year.
- When resources are limited, preference is given to first-time recipients.
- Remember, you must still register through the online registration process.
Nehirim is not responsible for your registration.
- You must still arrange transportation for yourself to and from the retreats.
Nehirim is not responsible for your transportation. Transportation
subsidies are not usually available, except in extenuating circumstances.
- All aid recipients are required to fill out evaluation forms at the end of
the retreat. In order to track this, we will give everyone a participant
number so we can ensure both confidentiality and compliance.
- Lastly, Nehirim is a small grass-roots non-profit, and we are only able to
provide financial assistance because of the generosity of our sponsors. If
you would like to help us provide support at Nehirim, you may sponsor
another participant by clicking the "Support Nehirim" link at left. Nehirim
is under the fiscal sponsorship of the Jewish Funds for Justice, a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization.
